QR code reader enables gym to open 24 hours
The Customer
Unit 7 are an independent gym based in Exeter. It’s aim is “to be the best gym in Exeter for people to train, learn and develop”. Part of that development process is to provide 24 hour access for their members to be able to access the gym whenever is convenient for them rather than what is convenient for Unit 7.
The Challenge
Unit 7 is conveniently located in a business park just off the A38 in a converted business unit. They have a large area and state of the art equipment as well as regular classes for all levels and abilities.
Deadlines were tight and in order to provide secure 24 hour access to the facility a new front door was required. All Right Now advised on the type of door required which would provide secure key access for emergency access but also work with the access control hardware and software.
The challenge for the team at All Right Now was to coordinate the installation of the access control system across a number of stakeholders and partners. The key stakeholders were:
The Solution
The solution comprised the following key components:
- An external QR code reader integrated with the ClubWise FitSense app
- An electrically controlled door
- A customised Nortech CRC400 to work with the ClubWise system
ClubWise have developed an industry-leading access control software solution which provides access to members even if the power fails or the internet or network fails. All Right Now have worked closely with ClubWise to develop the access control hardware. The QR code reader was chosen first for its outdoor rating of IP67 and secondly because of its reliability and speed of reading. When using a QR code for access control, the FitSense app offers a truly interactive check in experience. When a member wants access to the club they use FitSense to generate a QR code which, for security, is only valid for a certain time set by the club.
